Our History

In 1993, the Kaseys opened a second office in downtown Asheville, and a few years later the construction company began conversion of an old apartment building into a multi-office professional building on Central Avenue, where the second branch would be located. By 1995, they bought Coldwell Banker Hill & Associates in Hendersonville and established a regional presence, serving the two major hubs of western North Carolina.

At a time when they could have been content to sit back and enjoy the fruits of their expansion as it paralleled the growth of Asheville, the Kaseys had a bigger plan in mind, and their next move would surprise many. They turned their attention to the next major market – Waynesville, which had not been tapped by a franchised company or company of regional recognition. It was a venture that would pay off several times over. Through the merger and acquisition of two small firms, Mike and Jack opened for business in Waynesville in 1999, renovating an old filling station on the main thoroughfare Russ Avenue. Prior to the merger, the two small companies combined had a sales volume of $15 million. Today, the Waynesville location exceeds $58 million in sales annually and is top in the market.

With the success of Waynesville, Mike and Jack could put into effect a plan they had mapped out for some time – to have a location at each of the gateways into Asheville. They went against the norm again and set their sites on Black Mountain. In 2003, they purchased Valley Realty and again renovated an old filling station into a state-of-the-art facility and became the first franchised office in that marketplace.

Other strides were made in 2003. The company name was changed to Coldwell Banker Kasey & Associates, and another merger and acquisition took place, this time in the Hendersonville market. After 17 years in the business, Habitat Realty recognized the strength in affiliating with a franchised company. Overnight the Coldwell Banker Kasey Hendersonville branch doubled its agent base, and after one-year of combining talents, the merged companies have more than doubled sales volume and jumped dramatically in market share.

Coldwell Banker Kasey & Associates has become a market leader in a short period of time and recognized as one of the top firms in the nation. For four consecutive years, the company has been awarded Chairman’s Circle status within the Coldwell Banker corporation, a distinction given only to the Top 100 Coldwell Banker companies. Additionally Coldwell Banker Kasey & Associates is ranked as one of the top 500 real estate companies in the United States.

The brothers pat each other on the back when they reflect on their accomplishments. “We are very fortunate to be brothers and business partners,” commented Mike. “Many families find it hard working together, but we find that we compliment each other very well.”
