Climate
The climate is very moderate with no extreme seasons. Both summers and winters are normally both short and mild – though it can sometimes get cold and snowy for a short period! The annual average precipitation at Brevard is 67 inches. Near the Southwest corner of the county, it is closer to 80 inches making Transylvania County the second wettest county in the nation, and the wettest east of the Mississippi. But, there are surprisingly few such dreary days with beautiful, long spring and fall seasons. Snowfall is moderate, but when it does snow, it normally melts fairly quickly.
